The department was founded in 1998 by merging two departments - the department "Chemistry" and the department "Ecology". The Department "Chemistry" was established on October 5, 1966. The first Head was Kondratiev Vsevolod Mikhailovich, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, associate professor, who worked from 1966 to 1972. From 1972 to 1974 the Head of the department was Shvarts Boris Naumovich, Candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor. From 1974 to 1998 Zinovich Sigizmund Kazimirovich, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, professor was elected to the post of Head of the department. From 1986 to 1995 on the basis of the department there was the research laboratory of the Ministry of Energy and Electrification of the USSR "Anticor", which developed and introduced anti-corrosive protective coatings for various purposes into production.
In 1995 the university organized the Department of Ecology. Its first Head from 1995 to 1998 was Strokach Pyotr Pavlovich, Candidate of Engineering sciences, professor.
In 1998, as a result of the merger of the above-mentioned departments, the Department "Engineering Ecology and Chemistry" was formed. From 1998 to 2005, Strokach Pyotr Pavlovich, Ph.D., professor, was elected as a Head of the department, from 2005 to December 2015 the head of the department was Basov Sergey Vladimirovich, Candidate of Engineering sciences, associate professor. Since December 2015, the head of the department has been Tour (Aleevskaya) Elina Arkadevna, Candidate of Engineering sciences, associate professor.
Teaching staff
The educational process of the department is provided by 17 workers. Of these, 12 are from the teaching staff and 5 are from the support staff of the department. 5 workers of the department graduated from Brest State Technical University. Among the teaching staff there is 1 professor at the department, Candidate of Engineering Sciences; 5 associate professors, Candidate of sciences; 4 senior teachers and 2 assistants.
