As part of the week of adaptation to student life, a preventive meeting was held for first-year students of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Ruslan Yuryevich Filatov, Deputy Head of the Inspectorate for Minors' Affairs of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Moskovsky District Administration of Brest, took part in an open dialogue with students.
The main topic of the conversation was the prevention of cybercrimes. The law enforcement officer spoke in detail about modern Internet fraud schemes: from phishing links to calls from “bank representatives.” Students were reminded of the basic rules of digital hygiene:
using complex passwords
two-factor authentication
Be careful when following unfamiliar links in messengers
Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the problem of droppership. A representative of the IDN explained in detail to first-year students the danger of young people being involved in the transit of illegal funds through the sale or transfer of their bank cards to third parties. Students were warned: the desire to get easy money could result in severe criminal liability. Ignorance of the law does not excuse one from responsibility, and the status of a dropper makes a person a full-fledged link in the chain of financial crimes. Even if a student simply gave the card to a friend for a small reward, he becomes an accomplice to money laundering.
During the dialogue, young people were also reminded of the rules for safe shopping on trading platforms, the protection of personal data on social networks, and responsibility for offenses in the field of high technology.
At the end of the meeting, the inspection representative called on students to be vigilant, check any information and be critical of suspicious offers of quick money in instant messengers.
