On April 11, 2025, the Brest State Technical University hosted a ceremonial final concert of the Belaya Vezha folk academic choir entitled "We sing to you, our university". The event was dedicated to the 59th anniversary of the university's founding and was held to confirm the honorary title of "People's Amateur Collective of the Republic of Belarus", awarded to the choir in 2016 for significant creative achievements and active concert activity.
Under the direction of artistic director and conductor Irina Vasilievna Angolyuk, the group presented a diverse program, including compositions of various genres - from spiritual to secular choral music by Belarusian, Russian and Western European authors.
Having opened the evening with the sublime spiritual chant "Come, let us bow down" (composer Elena Chistaya), the performers set a high artistic bar for the entire concert. Among the works performed, special attention was drawn to thematic compositions emphasizing the peace-loving nature of the Belarusian people and their love for the Motherland:
- "Mother's Arioso" by composer Anatoly Novikov to the verses of Georgy Rublev.
- "If the Stones Could Speak" by Igor Luchenok to the verses of Robert Rozhdestvensky.
In addition to classical compositions, a significant place was occupied by traditional Belarusian folk music, presented by processed folk songs for choir. The culmination was the performance of the emotionally charged folk song "Cranes Fly Over Polesie" ("Cranes Flying in Palesse") by composer Igor Luchenok to the words of poet Ales Staver, which left a deep mark in the hearts of the listeners.
The group expresses gratitude to the university, the state certification commission, guests and numerous admirers of choral art for their trust and warm support. The concert became not only a creative report, but also a celebration of music that united generations. The group presented the program with honor to confirm the title of national and is ready for new heights!
