"And the memory of the feat is preserved in our lives"

On May 5, 2026, students, faculty, and guests gathered in the square in front of the main building of Brest State Technical University to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The commemorative rally began with a performance by the brass band of Military Unit 5526 of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, which performed festive marches.

The celebration began with a moment of silence, which was declared to express deep gratitude to the fallen defenders of the Fatherland, who gave their lives for future generations.

The following addressed the gathering:

Natalya Petrovna Yalovaya, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at Brest State Technical University

Sergey Mikhailovich Krachko, First Deputy Head of the Moskovsky District Administration

Ivan Nikolaevich Shulga, Head of the "Valor. Honor. Fatherland" Outreach Group of the Brest City Council of Veterans, Retired Lieutenant Colonel

Archpriest Sergiy Bogdanov, Cleric of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ

The cultural program was rich and touching. Students performed the "May Waltz," and artists delighted the audience with well-known war songs: "Dark Night," "Brest Fortress," and "Ballad of a Mother." The military personnel's demonstration performances were particularly memorable—their skill drew thunderous applause. The rally concluded with a vibrant flash mob featuring the university's dance troupes.

After the official part, everyone was invited to thematic areas, allowing guests to immerse themselves in military history. Here, they could examine modern military equipment and uniform samples. The exhibits were prepared by the 38th Brest Separate Guards Vienna Red Banner Airborne Assault Brigade, the 111th Guards Königsberg Red Banner Order of Kutuzov, 2nd Class Artillery Brigade, and the Brest Joint Structure of DOSAAF.

The field kitchen was especially popular, where everyone could try authentic "soldier's" porridge prepared by soldiers of the 48th Separate Electronic Warfare Battalion.

This day once again reminded us all: the memory of our ancestors' heroism is not just a page of history, but a living part of our lives. And as long as we remember, their heroism will live in our hearts.

Happy Victory Day!
